What You'll Learn
Over four weeks, participants will explore the craft of songwriting in an intimate and supportive online setting. Eirene's teaching style is rooted in collaboration, authenticity, and a deep understanding of the emotional and technical aspects of music.

Week 1:
Find Your Story
Explore your personal narrative and learn how to turn your lived experiences into lyrical inspiration. Eirene will guide participants in identifying themes and emotions that anchor great songs.

Week 2:
Crafting Lyrics with Heart
Dive into the art of lyric writing, focusing on wordplay, imagery, and the emotional core of your story. Eirene will share techniques for writing compelling verses and choruses.

Week 3:
Melody and Mood
Learn to craft melodies that amplify the meaning of your lyrics. Using examples from their own work and beyond, Eirene will guide participants through creating harmonies that evoke emotion and enhance storytelling.

Week 4:
Bringing It All Together
Combine lyrics and melody into a polished song. Participants will workshop their pieces with live feedback from Eirene and peers, culminating in an optional sharing session to celebrate their growth and creativity.

Eirene Cloma’s rich musical journey includes mastering fingerstyle guitar, performing in diverse genres, and a decade of collaboration with Pantayo. Their solo work as Louie Sanchez has earned acclaim for its heartfelt storytelling, blending timeless folk and contemporary artistry. Eirene’s ability to connect deeply with audiences and mentor emerging artists ensures every participant feels seen, heard, and inspired to grow as a songwriter. As a member of the acclaimed kulintang ensemble Pantayo, Cloma contributed vocals, guitar, bass, and keys, and assisted with composition and arrangements. Pantayo's self-titled debut album was shortlisted for the Polaris Music Prize in 2020. In their solo work as Louie Sanchez, Cloma returns to their roots as a singer-songwriter, blending influences from country, folk, and R&B. Their music narrates stories of labor, loss, and longing, reflecting their experiences as a working-class Filipino-Canadian. Their self-titled debut EP, released on November 8, 2024, via Next Door Records, showcases this poignant, genre-blending sound. Through both Pantayo and their solo project, Louie Sanchez, Eirene Cloma continues to make significant contributions to the Canadian music scene, bringing forward stories that resonate with diverse audiences.​​​
